How to be a good houseguest

Be generous.
especially when you're invited to visit a friend for a holiday, load up with treats for your hosts -bottles of wine, delicious deli foods ,board games ,new DVDs.
Remember ,you're not paying for a hotel ,so go to town.
Don't take uninvited extra people or pets, unless they've been specially requested by your hosts.
Offer to contribute some sort of skill, offer to cook supper a few times .
Know when to leave, don't outstay your welcome
Send a thank-you gift that shows you care.

Think Purple

Last winter it was orange, this winter it's purple-things are really looking up.
There's a really wearable colour grabbing pole position in the fashion world.
Purple is just one of those colours that is easy to love. For it to look it's best you need to try to buy the best fabrics you can afford-silk ,velvet, heavy satin for instance.
It 's both grand and reassuring and while red demands that you feel on top form when venturing out in it,purple allows you to be in a much more under -the radar mood.
A rich purple does wonders for the skin-it doesn't reflect colour onto it but contrasts flatteringlywith pallor and looks beautiful on dark skins.
Purple is the ideal colour for the evening, you will stand out among the predictable sea of black and looks delightfully chic.

Private Fashion Shows-Paris

Since the beginning of the modern fashion industry, it has been a tradition for most of the elite fashion designers to have private showrooms at elegant addresses and settings around the world, such as Avenue Montaigne in Paris and Fifth Avenue in New York. These showrooms were used mainly to display the new haute-couture and prêt-à-porter collections to buyers from the most prestigious retail establishments. VIP customers also had the privilege of discovering the collections at these exclusive settings. Today this tradition remains, with showrooms such as the private haute couture salon of Christian Dior at its boutique on Avenue Montaigne in Paris, where Dior's Director of VIP Clients shows the new collections that graced the Paris runways to selected individuals or groups.

Paris Fashion Week

Travelling to the 19th arondismont for a sneak preview of Paris' new contemporary art centre Le 104 Cent Quatre was a bit of a treat for us and a coup for McQueen who secured it as his show venue. He added stuffed wild animals and a giant representation of the globe, projected with moving images of the sun and the moon, as the backdrop. Beneath his signature sculpted tailoring, with a tiny torso enhanced by exaggerated fold and tucks in the cloth, second skin pants, and towering shoes with shards of crystal for their heels, McQueen was making a statement about man and his conquering of the natural world, and in particular the industrial revolution, the Victorian Era and Charles Darwin. Nature featured, with light embroideries of meadow scenes over flesh-like net, faux wood prints like dŽcor from Meisen porcelain and 'specimen jar' dresses, with silk flowers trapped below a fine gauze, a transparency theme he began in Milan with his menswear. Then there was man's assault on nature, with acid colours and prints of crushed crystal, and Eiffel tower prints that through McQueen's scissor-sharp cuts appeared to have passed through a kaleidoscope.

It's all about Cuffs

Cuffs are worn by strong women with character, some of whom are even bold enough to wear two on one arm.The cuff bracelet is a display of style and grace.Jackie Kennedy the epitome of elegance, teamed cuffs with bustier dresses and made Van Cleef and Arpels hammered gold cuffs famous in the 60's

Coco Chanel rearely left the house without her cuff, her favourite was an enamel cuff with a gold maltese cross illuminated with stones.

Layered Necklaces

Jewel in the crown

Madonna chose to wear it for her 50th birthday in August ,fashion bloggers are obsessed with creating an affordable homage to it,it is so influential that normally sane women are wearing their entire jewellery collection all at once .

Oversized ,layered chunky chains in burnished gold adorned with crucifix pendants and coins.it totally sums up the mood this season.

Layered bangles stacked high up the arm ,mix silver and gold metal together to vamp up your winter wardrobe.

Gothic Revival V Edwardian

It would be too obvious to tell you that the new black is ,of course ,black ,again;however this winter it has a gothic twist.Fitted edwardian jackets with high necks and victorian -length skirts give the season a sense of drama.

London Fashion Week 08

The Mayfair Hotel -St James-I'm loving it ....

I stayed here whilst at London Fashion Week

A legendary hotel with an iconic past, The May Fair was opened by King George V in 1927 and since became an A-list playground for the Hollywood set. A £75 million transformation later and The May Fair is once more one of London’s most talked about hotels. Lavish without being showy, dramatic without compromising on comfort and with service that’s attentive yet low-key, The May Fair whispers contemporary chic in the heart of the city.
This five star hotel showcases the finest seasonal British ingredients in Amba bar and grill. The May Fair Bar, with a serious reputation for cocktails, was recently judged London’s best hotel bar. The discreet May Fair Spa offers an oasis of calm for when time itself is a luxury. There are ten stunning signature suites among the 406 generously spacious bedrooms. Each one unique, The May Fair suites are recognised as among the most beautiful rooms in London
